Brief Bio-nick fordyce

    Hello, my name is Nick Fordyce. I have lived in San Jose, CA my whole life. Some of my cousins and my aunt live in Idaho.

    I have gardened a couple of times with my grandpa. I have grown broccoli and tomatoes. What I took away from those experiences was that growing food is much harder then it seems, also that growing food with people is a really good way to connect with people. I grew closer to my grandpa because of those experience.
   
    My grandpa is not a farmer, but he grows a lot of food in his backyard. He is pretty good at it. He has a huge garden in his backyard and he is very experienced. He grows a lot of things, but my favorite is that he grows grapes on grape vines. Whenever he is done growing his food he always brings us some of his food e grew, so that is nice. my relationship with my grandpa is very good. he lives close to us so it is easy to communicate with him.

My plant got bigger as time went on. Mitosis helps the plant grow bigger by creating two daughter cells, that will increase the number of cells in the plant. The cell replicates its chromosomes and then splits the copied chromosomes. More cells mean more bigger the plant's body gets. All the branches and leaves spread out and get bigger do to more cells. Photosynthesis helps a plant utilizes sunlight as an energy source. This energy source is converted into ATP. Plants make their own food by using the sun's light with carbon dioxide and water with chlorophyll to make oxygen and glucose. Glucose helps with fats, oils, and starch for storage. All this is used to make cellulose for cell walls and proteins for growth. Chlorophyll gives the plant its green color. Cellular respiration helps the plant with oxygen and glucose which acts as energy for the plant. Glycolysis splits the two glucose molecules called pyruvate which expel small amount of ATP.
