Bao's Seed Story

I interviewed Bao and this is what he learned:

Nick: What have you learned?
Bao: "I learned that plants grow big in a small amount of time"

Nick: What surprised or amazed you? 
Bao: "how plants are very important organisms for life"
Nick:What made you laugh? 
Bao: "when my teammate almost tripped on the plant"

Nick:What made you pause and think a little deeper?
Bao: "that you can grow plants from a paper towel with just water on it"

Nick:  What questions do you have about things you observed or experienced in the garden? 
Bao: "that we have a chicken coop and three chickens"

My plant got bigger as time went on. Mitosis helps the plant grow bigger by creating two daughter cells, that will increase the number of cells in the plant. The cell replicates its chromosomes and then splits the copied chromosomes. More cells mean more bigger the plant's body gets. All the branches and leaves spread out and get bigger do to more cells. Photosynthesis helps a plant utilizes sunlight as an energy source. This energy source is converted into ATP. Plants make their own food by using the sun's light with carbon dioxide and water with chlorophyll to make oxygen and glucose. Glucose helps with fats, oils, and starch for storage. All this is used to make cellulose for cell walls and proteins for growth. Chlorophyll gives the plant its green color. Cellular respiration helps the plant with oxygen and glucose which acts as energy for the plant. Glycolysis splits the two glucose molecules called pyruvate which expel small amount of ATP.
